Tommy Koenig’s Comics Studio
Veteran Comic/Actor Tommy Koenig’s acclaimed pro comedians’ “drop in” workshop and private sessions. Tommy offers the only pro comics workshop in the Tri-State Area (and now thanks to Skype – worldwide).
Comics Tommy’s coached at The Comics Studio have opened for George Carlin, Joy Behar, Brad Garrett and other well-known comedians and performers. His students have appeared on The Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central Presents and The Montreal Comedy Festival.
For the past 14 years, Tommy has run The Comics Studio, similar to The Actors Studio but for comics, in New York City. During his 30 plus year comedy career, Tommy helped usher in the national comedy club circuit and currently manages his own successful headlining stand-up comic, actor, writer, director and producer career (using his contacts in the industry to help The Comics Studio comics advance their careers.)
Tommy’s vast experience, insights and understanding of the entertainment biz and “what it really takes to succeed in this industry” makes The Comics Studio unique. He motivates and mentors each of his students along their individual, personal creative journey, helping them turn pro or advancing their pro comic career to the next level.
The Comics Studio’s “drop-in” flexibility allows students to attend the weekly pro workshops and private sessions when they want or need to. There are no set number of weeks in the workshop…its an on-going weekly workshop instead…with students dropping in as their schedule allows. Tommy’s students “pay as they go” for just the sessions and/or classes they actually attend instead of having to pay in advance for a set number of weeks in the workshop. Tommy’s students never have to pay for a missed private session. Instead the session is rescheduled so they can attend.
Tommy’s students use The Comics Studio workshops as a “gym” to pop in to fine-tune their act, prepare for a show or audition, or learn how to stretch their material for bigger laughs and greater impact. All Tommy’s students take advantage of his network of like-minded comics, agents and producers who stay connected through The Comics Studio to help advance their careers and get paying gigs.
Every month Tommy produces a show at a major New York City nightclub (Broadway Comedy Club e.g.) which is taped professionally for comics to keep their web presence up to date for industry and fans.
